And having listened to the king, they continued their journey, and the star they had seen in its rising went before them until it stopped over the place where the child (paidion | παιδίον | nom sg neut) was.
Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child (paidiou | παιδίου | gen sg neut); and when you have found him, report back to me, so that I also may go and worship him.”
For they disciplined (epaideuon | ἐπαίδευον | imperf act ind 3 pl) us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our benefit, so that we may share his holy character.
Endure your trials as divine discipline. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does (paideuei | παιδεύει | pres act ind 3 sg) not discipline (paideuei | παιδεύει | pres act ind 3 sg)?
teaching (paideuousa | παιδεύουσα | pres act ptcp nom sg fem) us that, having denied the ungodliness and the worldly passions, we should live in a self-controlled manner and justly and reverently in the present age,
in meekness instructing (paideuonta | παιδεύοντα | pres act ptcp acc sg masc) those who oppose you, if perhaps God might grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,
among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered over to Satan so that they might be taught (paideuthōsin | παιδευθῶσιν | aor pass subj 3 pl) through punishment not to blaspheme.
