“To what shall I compare this generation? It is like children (paidiois | παιδίοις | dat pl neut) sitting in the marketplaces who cry to their friends,
saying, “Rise, take the child (paidion | παιδίον | acc sg neut) and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child’s (paidiou | παιδίου | gen sg neut) life are dead.”
After they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying, “Rise, take the child (paidion | παιδίον | acc sg neut) and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the child (paidion | παιδίον | acc sg neut) to destroy him.”
Upon entering the house they saw the child (paidion | παιδίον | acc sg neut) with Mary his mother, and falling to their knees they worshiped him. Then opening their treasure chests, they presented him with gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
