7. αὐτὸς δὲ Ἰησοῦς

αὐτὸς δὲ Ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἐπίστευεν αὐτὸν αὐτοῖς διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν γινώσκειν πάντας.

αὐτὸς δὲ Ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἐπίστευεν αὐτὸν αὐτοῖς

διὰ τὸ αὐτὸν γινώσκειν πάντας.

But Jesus was not entrusting himself to them because he knew all people.

6. ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν

ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πολλοὶ προφῆται καὶ δίκαιοι ἐπεθύμησαν (they desired) ἰδεῖν ἃ βλέπετε καὶ οὐκ εἶδαν, καὶ ἀκοῦσαι ἃ ἀκούετε καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν.

ἀμὴν γὰρ λέγω ὑμῖν

ὅτι πολλοὶ προφῆται καὶ δίκαιοι ἐπεθύμησαν (they desired)

ἰδεῖν ἃ βλέπετε καὶ οὐκ εἶδαν,

καὶ ἀκοῦσαι ἃ ἀκούετε καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν.

For truly I am saying to you that many prophets and righteous people desired to see what you are seeing and they did not see it, and to hear what you are hearing and they did not hear it.

5. καὶ ἐποίησεν δώδεκα

καὶ ἐποίησεν δώδεκα ... ἵνα ὦσιν μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἵνα ἀποστέλλῃ αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν καὶ ἔχειν ἐξουσίαν ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια.

καὶ ἐποίησεν δώδεκα ...

ἵνα ὦσιν μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ

καὶ ἵνα ἀποστέλλῃ αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν καὶ ἔχειν ἐξουσίαν ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια.

And he appointed twelve… in order that they might be with him and in order that he might send them to preach and to have authority to cast out the demons.

4. ἦλθεν γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς

ἦλθεν γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ζητῆσαι καὶ σῶσαι τὸ ἀπολωλός (lost).

ἦλθεν γὰρ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ζητῆσαι καὶ σῶσαι τὸ ἀπολωλός (lost).

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

3. καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς

καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς· ἔξεστιν (it is lawful) τοῖς σάββασιν ἀγαθὸν ποιῆσαι ἢ κακοποιῆσαι, ψυχὴν σῶσαι ἢ ἀποκτεῖναι;

καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς·

ἔξεστιν (it is lawful) τοῖς σάββασιν ἀγαθὸν ποιῆσαι ἢ κακοποιῆσαι,

ψυχὴν σῶσαι ἢ ἀποκτεῖναι;

And he is saying to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbaths to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?”
