Search the Greek Dictionary

Welcome to what we hope will become a great New Testament Greek dictionary. We are starting with some basic Koine Greek information, but will be inviting our community to modify and enlarge the definitions and use them in their translation work.

We will be adding in a facility for you to suggest changes to the definitions. Basically, here is what we want.

  1. A basic gloss (or glosses) for a word.
  2. A single paragraph that clearly shows the word's semantic range, with each branch divided by "(1), (2)," etc.
  3. Great biblical examples of each part of the semantic range.
  4. Anything special about the word that the student should know.

Our committment is that this dictionary will remain free, and we will be encouraging software companies to adopt it as their generic Greek-English dictionary. We must help people move beyond a simple gloss and show the word's range of meaning.

You can search for a word based on its Strong's number, GK number, or transliteration. You can also page through the words using our index to the left.
