Remember the saying that I told you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd), ‘The servant is not greater than his master.’ If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd); if they have kept my word, they will keep yours as well.
If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you do not belong to the world, but I chose you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) out of the world, for this reason the world hates you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd).
You (hymeis | ὑμεῖς | nom pl 2nd) did not choose me, but I chose you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) and appointed you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) that you (hymeis | ὑμεῖς | nom pl 2nd) should go and bear fruit and that your (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd) fruit should remain, so that the Father may give you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) whatever you ask in my name.
No longer do I call you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) friends, because all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd).
These things I have spoken to you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd), that my joy may be in you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) and that your (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd) joy may be complete.
