This means it is not the children of the flesh (sarkos | σαρκός | gen sg fem) who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as descendants.
To them belong the patriarchs, and from them by human (sarka | σάρκα | acc sg fem) descent (sarka | σάρκα | acc sg fem) came the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.
For I could wish that I myself were accursed, cut off from Christ, for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh (sarka | σάρκα | acc sg fem),
for if you live according to the flesh (sarka | σάρκα | acc sg fem), you will certainly die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
You, however, are not controlled by the flesh (sarki | σαρκί | dat sg fem) but by the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
