But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother (adelphos | ἀδελφός | nom sg masc) if he is a sexually immoral or greedy person, an idolater, slanderer, drunkard, or swindler — not even to eat with such a one.

I have applied all this to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.

Now I urge you, brethren (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), to watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith contrary to the teaching that you have received. Avoid them.
