But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother (adelphos | ἀδελφός | nom sg masc) or the sister is not bound. It is to peace that God has called us.
For the unbelieving husband is consecrated through union with his wife, and the unbelieving wife is consecrated through union with her husband (adelphō | ἀδελφῷ | dat sg masc). Otherwise your children would be defiled, but as it is, they are holy.
To the rest I say (I, not the Lord): If some brother (adelphos | ἀδελφός | nom sg masc) has a wife who is not a believer, and she is willing to live with him, he should not divorce her.
