Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all who are in their graves will hear (akousousin | ἀκούσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl) his voice

“I tell you the solemn truth, the hour is coming and is now here, when the dead will hear (akousousin | ἀκούσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl) the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear (akousantes | ἀκούσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) will live.

I tell you the solemn truth, the one (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) who (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) hears (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) my message and believes the one who sent me has eternal life and will not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

When (akousas | ἀκούσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) this man heard (akousas | ἀκούσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death.

They said to the woman, “No longer is it because of what you said that we believe, for we (akēkoamen | ἀκηκόαμεν | perf act ind 1 pl) have (akēkoamen | ἀκηκόαμεν | perf act ind 1 pl) heard (akēkoamen | ἀκηκόαμεν | perf act ind 1 pl) him for ourselves, and we know that this man truly is the Savior of the world.”

He bears witness to what he has seen and heard (ēkousen | ἤκουσεν | aor act ind 3 sg), yet no one accepts his testimony.

It is the bridegroom who has the bride; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands by and listens (akouōn | ἀκούων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) for him, rejoices greatly when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.

The wind blows wherever it chooses, and you (akoueis | ἀκούεις | pres act ind 2 sg) hear (akoueis | ἀκούεις | pres act ind 2 sg) its sound, but do not know where it is coming from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard (akousantōn | ἀκουσάντων | aor act ptcp gen pl masc) John and followed Jesus.
