I speak about the things I have seen while with my Father, but you do that which you have heard (ēkousate | ἠκούσατε | aor act ind 2 pl) from your father.”

I have many things to say about you by way of judgment; but the one who sent me is truthful, and I say to the world only that which I have heard (ēkousa | ἤκουσα | aor act ind 1 sg) from him.”

At this, those who had heard (akousantes | ἀκούσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) began to leave one by one, starting with the oldest; and Jesus alone was left, with the woman standing before him.

“Surely our law does not judge a man unless it first hears (akousē | ἀκούσῃ | aor act subj 3 sg) from him and finds out what he is doing, does it?”

After (akousantes | ἀκούσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) hearing (akousantes | ἀκούσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) these words, some of the crowd began to say, “This man really is the prophet.”

The Pharisees heard (ēkousan | ἤκουσαν | aor act ind 3 pl) the crowd secretly discussing these things about Jesus, so the chief priests and Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest him.

Therefore, when (akousantes | ἀκούσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) a number of his disciples heard (akousantes | ἀκούσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) it, they said, “This teaching is difficult; who can understand (akouein | ἀκούειν | pres act inf ) it?”

It stands written in the prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard (akousas | ἀκούσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) the Father and learned from him comes to me.

And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you (akēkoate | ἀκηκόατε | perf act ind 2 pl) have (akēkoate | ἀκηκόατε | perf act ind 2 pl) never heard (akēkoate | ἀκηκόατε | perf act ind 2 pl), his form you have never seen,

I can do nothing on my own; I judge only as I hear (akouō | ἀκούω | pres act ind 1 sg), and my judgment is just because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.
