The watchman allows him to enter, and the sheep pay (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) attention (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) to (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) his voice; he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

Some of the Pharisees who were near him heard (ēkousan | ἤκουσαν | aor act ind 3 pl) this, and said to him, “Surely we are not blind too, are we?”

Jesus heard (ēkousen | ἤκουσεν | aor act ind 3 sg) that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”

Not since time began has it been heard (ēkousthē | ἠκούσθη | aor pass ind 3 sg) that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind.

We know that God does (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) not listen (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) to sinners, but if anyone is devout and does his will, God listens (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) to (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) him.

Whoever belongs to God listens (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) to (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) the words of God. The reason why you do (akouete | ἀκούετε | pres act ind 2 pl) not listen (akouete | ἀκούετε | pres act ind 2 pl) is that you do not belong to God.”

Why do you not understand the way I speak? It is because you are unable to grasp (akouein | ἀκούειν | pres act inf ) my message.

But now you are intent on killing me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard (ēkousa | ἤκουσα | aor act ind 1 sg) from God. This is not what Abraham did!
