Therefore Pilate said to him, “So you are a king, then?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king! The reason for which I was born and have come into the world, is that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens (akouei | ἀκούει | pres act ind 3 sg) to my voice.”

Why do you question me? Question those who have heard (akēkootas | ἀκηκοότας | perf act ptcp acc pl masc) as to what I said to them; they know what I said.”

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak on his own, but will speak only what he hears (akousei | ἀκούσει | fut act ind 3 sg), and he will tell you things yet to come.

No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all that I have heard (ēkousa | ἤκουσα | aor act ind 1 sg) from my Father I have made known to you.

You heard (ēkousate | ἠκούσατε | aor act ind 2 pl) me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come back to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

The one who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word you are hearing (akouete | ἀκούετε | pres act ind 2 pl) is not mine, but is from the Father’s who sent me.

If anyone hears (akousē | ἀκούσῃ | aor act subj 3 sg) my words and does not keep them, I am not the one who will judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.

The crowd responded, “We have heard (ēkousamen | ἠκούσαμεν | aor act ind 1 pl) from the law that the Christ is to remain forever; so how is it that you are saying that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?”

The crowd that was standing there and had heard (akousas | ἀκούσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) the voice said that it was thunder; others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”

For this reason the crowd went to meet him, that is, because they heard (ēkousan | ἤκουσαν | aor act ind 3 pl) he had performed this sign.
