Now the apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard (ēkousan | ἤκουσαν | aor act ind 3 pl) that the Gentiles too had accepted the word of God.
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all those who were listening (akouontas | ἀκούοντας | pres act ptcp acc pl masc) to the message.
So immediately I sent for you, and you did well by coming. Now therefore we are all here in the presence of God to hear (akousai | ἀκοῦσαι | aor act inf ) all that has been commanded you by the Lord.”
And they said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright man and one who fears God, who is well spoken of by the whole nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear (akousai | ἀκοῦσαι | aor act inf ) words from you.”
Since Lydda is near Joppa, the disciples, hearing (akousantes | ἀκούσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) that Peter was there, sent two men to him urging him, “Do not delay in coming to us.”
And all who heard (akouontes | ἀκούοντες | pres act ptcp nom pl masc) him were astonished and said, “Is not this the man who in Jerusalem was trying to destroy those who called on this name? And has he not come here for the very purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?”
But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard (ēkousa | ἤκουσα | aor act ind 1 sg) from many about this man, how much harm he did to your saints at Jerusalem.
