Mnemonics

Blue letter bible suggests the second half of this word comes from G2965 (κύων) - a dog. Like a dog licking his master's hand.

'kun' in the middle of the word links to 'koon (coon) dog' links to 'licking hand' links to worship.

In the Old Testament worship was often asscociated with laying flat on the floor, also know as prostrate. This word sounds very similar to this word.
