When he came to Jerusalem, he attempted to join the disciples; but they (ephobounto | ἐφοβοῦντο | imperf pass ind 3 pl) were (ephobounto | ἐφοβοῦντο | imperf pass ind 3 pl) all afraid (ephobounto | ἐφοβοῦντο | imperf pass ind 3 pl) of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

Then the captain went with the officers and brought them, but not with force, for they feared (ephobounto | ἐφοβοῦντο | imperf mid ind 3 pl) the people, lest they be stoned.

Now when Pilate heard this statement, he (ephobēthē | ἐφοβήθη | aor pass ind 3 sg) became (ephobēthē | ἐφοβήθη | aor pass ind 3 sg) even more afraid (ephobēthē | ἐφοβήθη | aor pass ind 3 sg).

His parents said this because they were afraid (ephobounto | ἐφοβοῦντο | imperf pass ind 3 pl) of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be the Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.

But he said to them, “It is I; do (phobeisthe | φοβεῖσθε | pres pass imperative 2 pl) not be afraid.” (phobeisthe | φοβεῖσθε | pres pass imperative 2 pl)

When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the lake and approaching the boat, and they were terrified (ephobēthēsan | ἐφοβήθησαν | aor pass ind 3 pl).

But the other responded with a rebuke, saying, “Do (phobē | φοβῇ | pres pass ind 2 sg) you not fear (phobē | φοβῇ | pres pass ind 2 sg) God, since you are under the same sentence?

The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way how they might put Jesus to death, for they were afraid (ephobounto | ἐφοβοῦντο | imperf pass ind 3 pl) of the people.

The scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on him at that very hour, for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them, but they feared (ephobēthēsan | ἐφοβήθησαν | aor pass ind 3 pl) the people.
