But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.” And he went out into the exterior court, and a rooster crowed (ephōnēsen | ἐφώνησεν | aor act ind 3 sg).

And Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, today — this very night, before the rooster crows (phōnēsai | φωνῆσαι | aor act inf ) twice — you will deny me three times.”

And Jesus stopped and said, “Call (phōnēsate | φωνήσατε | aor act imperative 2 pl) him.” And they called (phōnousin | φωνοῦσιν | pres act ind 3 pl) the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage! Get up! He is calling (phōnei | φωνεῖ | pres act ind 3 sg) you.”

And sitting down, he called (ephōnēsen | ἐφώνησεν | aor act ind 3 sg) the twelve and said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

Then the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions, the cried (phōnēsan | φωνῆσαν | aor act ptcp nom sg neut) out with a loud voice, loud and came out of him.

But when some of those standing there heard it, they said, “This man is (phōnei | φωνεῖ | pres act ind 3 sg) calling (phōnei | φωνεῖ | pres act ind 3 sg) for (phōnei | φωνεῖ | pres act ind 3 sg) Elijah.”

Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said, “Before the rooster crows (phōnēsai | φωνῆσαι | aor act inf ), you will deny me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Then he began to invoke curses on himself and swear to them, “I do not know that man!” And immediately the rooster crowed (ephōnēsen | ἐφώνησεν | aor act ind 3 sg).

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, this very night, before the rooster crows (phōnēsai | φωνῆσαι | aor act inf ), you will deny me three times.”

Jesus stopped and called (ephōnēsen | ἐφώνησεν | aor act ind 3 sg) them, saying, “What do you want me to do for you?”
