But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed (ephōnēsen | ἐφώνησεν | aor act ind 3 sg).
Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, a rooster will (phōnēsei | φωνήσει | fut act ind 3 sg) not crow (phōnēsei | φωνήσει | fut act ind 3 sg) this day before you have denied three times that you know me.”
When he returned, having acquired royal power, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called (phōnēthēnai | φωνηθῆναι | aor pass inf ) to him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business.
And calling (phōnēsas | φωνήσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) out (phōnēsas | φωνήσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) he said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
So he called (phōnēsas | φωνήσας | aor act ptcp nom sg masc) him in and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Hand over the account of your stewardship, because you cannot be my manager any longer.’
Then he also said to the one who had invited him, “When you give a luncheon or a dinner do not invite (phōnei | φώνει | pres act imperative 2 sg) your friends, or your brothers, or or rich neighbors, in case they also invite you in return, and there would be a repayment to you.
Other seed fell into good soil, and when it came up, it produced fruit a hundredfold.” As he was saying these things he began to call (ephōnei | ἐφώνει | imperf act ind 3 sg) out, “Let the one who has ears to hear, hear.”
And when some of the bystanders heard this, they said, “Listen, he (phōnei | φωνεῖ | pres act ind 3 sg) is (phōnei | φωνεῖ | pres act ind 3 sg) calling (phōnei | φωνεῖ | pres act ind 3 sg) Elijah!”
And immediately the rooster crowed (ephōnēsen | ἐφώνησεν | aor act ind 3 sg) a second time. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows (phōnēsai | φωνῆσαι | aor act inf ) twice, you will deny me three times.” And upon reflection, he broke into tears.
