Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting (ephyteuon | ἐφύτευον | imperf act ind 3 pl), they were building;
And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this sycamore, ‘Be uprooted and planted (phyteuthēti | φυτεύθητι | aor pass imperative 2 sg) in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
Then he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted (pephyteumenēn | πεφυτευμένην | perf pass ptcp acc sg fem) in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it and found none.
And he began to speak to them in parables. “A man planted (ephyteusen | ἐφύτευσεν | aor act ind 3 sg) a vineyard and put a fence around it. He dug a pit for the winepress and built a tower; then he leased it out to tenant farmers and went on a journey.
“Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted (ephyteusen | ἐφύτευσεν | aor act ind 3 sg) a vineyard. He put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenants and went away on a journey.
And he answered, saying, “Every plant that my heavenly Father did (ephyteusen | ἐφύτευσεν | aor act ind 3 sg) not plant (ephyteusen | ἐφύτευσεν | aor act ind 3 sg) will be rooted up.
For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I would wish, and that I may be found by you not as you would wish; perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, flaring anger, selfish ambition, backbiting, gossiping, conceit (physiōseis | φυσιώσεις | nom pl fem), disorder.
by means of which he has freely given to us his precious and splendid promises, so that through them you may escape the corruption that is in the world caused by sinful desire and become partakers of the divine nature (physeōs | φύσεως | gen sg fem).
For every species (physis | φύσις | nom sg fem) of beast and bird, reptile and sea creature, can be tamed, and has been tamed by the human species (physei | φύσει | dat sg fem).
