I pray that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened (pephōtismenous | πεφωτισμένους | perf pass ptcp acc pl masc), you may comprehend the hope to which he has called you, what are the rich benefits of his glorious inheritance among the saints,
So then, stop passing judgment on anything before the time, before the Lord comes. He will bring to light (phōtisei | φωτίσει | fut act ind 3 sg) the hidden things of darkness and will disclose the motives of the heart. At that time praise will come to each from God.
If then your whole body is full of light, having no part of it dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp gives (phōtizē | φωτίζῃ | pres act subj 3 sg) you light (phōtizē | φωτίζῃ | pres act subj 3 sg) with its rays.”
If then your whole body is full of light (phōteinon | φωτεινόν | nom sg neut), having no part of it dark, it will be wholly bright (phōteinon | φωτεινόν | nom sg neut), as when a lamp gives you light with its rays.”
Your eye is the lamp of the body. When your eye is sound, then your whole body is full (phōteinon | φωτεινόν | nom sg neut) of light, but when it is diseased, then your body is full of darkness.
While he was still speaking, a bright (phōteinē | φωτεινή | nom sg fem) cloud overshadowed them and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, in whom I am well pleased; listen to him!”
Moreover, we hold the prophetic word to be reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it as you would to a lamp shining in a gloomy place, until the day dawns and the morning star (phōsphoros | φωσφόρος | nom sg masc) arises in your hearts.
