We have this hope as an anchor for life (psychēs | ψυχῆς | gen sg fem), both sure and steadfast — a hope that enters the inner shrine behind the veil,

For the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through so as to divide soul (psychēs | ψυχῆς | gen sg fem) from spirit, joints from marrow. It is even able to discern the thoughts and deliberations of the heart.

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your spirit, soul (psychē | ψυχή | nom sg fem), and body be preserved completely whole and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So deep was our affection for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but our own selves (psychas | ψυχάς | acc pl fem) as well, so dear had you become to us.

Whatever you do, do it heartily, (psychēs | ψυχῆς | gen sg fem) as for the Lord, not for men,

because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life (psychē | ψυχῇ | dat sg fem) to make up for the help you were not able to give me.

Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that, whether I come and see you or remain away, I may hear that you are standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side with one mind (psychē | ψυχῇ | dat sg fem) for the faith of the gospel,

not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ doing the will of God from the heart (psychēs | ψυχῆς | gen sg fem),

I will most gladly spend and be spent on behalf of your souls (psychōn | ψυχῶν | gen pl fem). If I love you more, am I to be loved less?

I call God as a witness against my soul (psychēn | ψυχήν | acc sg fem), that it was to spare you that I did not come again to Corinth.
