Dear friends, I urge you as foreigners and exiles to abstain from desires of the flesh, which wage war against your soul (psychēs | ψυχῆς | gen sg fem),
Since you have purified your souls (psychas | ψυχάς | acc pl fem) by obedience to the truth so that there is a sincere love for other believers, love one another fervently from a pure heart,
he should know that the one who brings a sinner back from the error of his way will save that person’s soul (psychēn | ψυχήν | acc sg fem) from death and cover a multitude of sins.
Therefore put aside all filthiness and rampant wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls (psychas | ψυχάς | acc pl fem).
Continue to obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls (psychōn | ψυχῶν | gen pl fem) as those who must give an account. Let them do this with joy, and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Consider him who endured from sinners such opposition against himself, so that you may not grow weary in your souls (psychais | ψυχαῖς | dat pl fem) and lose heart.
