Finally, brothers, rejoice, strive for maturity, take courage, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd).
For we rejoice whenever we are weak, but you (hymeis | ὑμεῖς | nom pl 2nd) are strong. And this is what we pray for, your (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd) Christian maturity.
Now we pray to God that you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) may not do anything wrong, not that we would appear as having passed the test, but that you (hymeis | ὑμεῖς | nom pl 2nd) may do what is right even though we may appear as having failed.
Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd)? — unless, of course, you fail the test!
For indeed he was crucified in weakness, but he lives by the power of God. For indeed we are weak in him, but we will live with him by the power of God toward you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd).
since you seek proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak toward you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) but is powerful among you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd).
I am afraid that when I come, my God may again humble me before you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd), and that I will mourn for many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and debauchery in which they indulged.
For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) not as I would wish, and that I may be found by you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) not as you would wish; perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, flaring anger, selfish ambition, backbiting, gossiping, conceit, disorder.
Have you been thinking all along that we are defending ourselves to you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd)? We are speaking before God as those in Christ; and all that we do, dear friends, is for your (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd) upbuilding.
