Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth so that there is a sincere love for other believers, love (agapēsate | ἀγαπήσατε | aor act imperative 2 pl) one another fervently from a pure heart,
Though you have not seen him, you love (agapate | ἀγαπᾶτε | pres act ind 2 pl) him. Though not seeing him now, yet believing in him, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and filled with glory,
If you really fulfill the royal law as set forth in this scripture, “You shall love (agapēseis | ἀγαπήσεις | fut act ind 2 sg) your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.
Listen, my dear brothers! Did not God choose those whom the world considers poor to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom, which he promised to those who love (agapōsin | ἀγαπῶσιν | pres act ptcp dat pl masc) him?
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast when tested, because once he is shown to be genuine, he will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love (agapōsin | ἀγαπῶσιν | pres act ptcp dat pl masc) him.
