Now when Jesus heard about John, he left there by boat to a deserted place to be alone; but when the crowds heard about it, they followed (ēkolouthēsan | ἠκολούθησαν | aor act ind 3 pl) him on foot from the towns.

But Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And large crowds followed (ēkolouthēsan | ἠκολούθησαν | aor act ind 3 pl) him, and he healed them all.

And whoever does not take up his cross and follow (akolouthei | ἀκολουθεῖ | pres act ind 3 sg) me is not worthy of me.

And as Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed (ēkolouthēsan | ἠκολούθησαν | aor act ind 3 pl) him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”

So Jesus got up and followed (ēkolouthēsen | ἠκολούθησεν | aor act ind 3 sg) him, and so did his disciples.

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow (akolouthei | ἀκολούθει | pres act imperative 2 sg) me.” So Matthew got up and followed (ēkolouthēsen | ἠκολούθησεν | aor act ind 3 sg) him.

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed (ēkolouthēsan | ἠκολούθησαν | aor act ind 3 pl) him.

And Jesus said to him, “Follow (akolouthei | ἀκολούθει | pres act imperative 2 sg) me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

A scribe came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow (akolouthēsō | ἀκολουθήσω | fut act ind 1 sg) you wherever you go.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who were following (akolouthousin | ἀκολουθοῦσιν | pres act ptcp dat pl masc), “I tell you the truth, I have not found faith like this in anyone in Israel.
