Now when Jesus heard about John, he left there by boat to a deserted place to be alone; but when the crowds heard about it, they followed (ēkolouthēsan | ἠκολούθησαν | aor act ind 3 pl) him on foot from the towns.
And as Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed (ēkolouthēsan | ἠκολούθησαν | aor act ind 3 pl) him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow (akolouthei | ἀκολούθει | pres act imperative 2 sg) me.” So Matthew got up and followed (ēkolouthēsen | ἠκολούθησεν | aor act ind 3 sg) him.
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who were following (akolouthousin | ἀκολουθοῦσιν | pres act ptcp dat pl masc), “I tell you the truth, I have not found faith like this in anyone in Israel.
