For a time will come when they will not put up with healthy teaching, but in accordance with their own lust they will heap up teachers for themselves, having itching ears (akoēn | ἀκοήν | acc sg fem),

And for this reason we also constantly thank God, that when you received the word of God which you heard (akoēs | ἀκοῆς | gen sg fem) from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it truly is, the word of God, which even now is doing its work in you who believe.
