When metav is followed by a word beginning with a vowel, the alpha drops out (met=). If the following word begins with a vowel and rough breathing, it becomes meq=. The object of metav with the genitive will usually be a person or a personal concept. Another preposition (suvn) is used when the object is impersonal.
