When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his garments and separated them into four shares, one share for each soldier. They also took his tunic (chitōna | χιτῶνα | acc sg masc), which (chitōn | χιτών | nom sg masc) was seamless, woven from top to bottom as a single piece.
