Both Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly and said, “It was necessary (anankaion | ἀναγκαῖον | nom sg neut) that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we are now turning to the Gentiles.
