As Jesus approached the gate of the town, a man who had died was being carried out — the only son of his mother (she was a widow) (chēra | χήρα | nom sg fem). A large crowd was with her.
But in truth I tell you, there were many widows (chērai | χῆραι | nom pl fem) in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, as a great famine spread throughout the whole land;
and then she was a widow (chēra | χήρα | nom sg fem) until she was eighty-four She did not leave the temple, worshipping night and day with fasting and prayer.
And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow (chēra | χήρα | nom sg fem) has put in more than all those who are putting large amounts into the offering box.
They devour the property of widows (chērōn | χηρῶν | gen pl fem) and, as a show, offer up long prayers. These men will receive a more severe judgment.”
Above it were the cherubim (cheroubin | χερουβίν | nom pl neut) of glory overshadowing the place of forgiveness. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become for them worse (cheirona | χείρονα | nom pl neut comparative) than the first.
