Then they said to him, “Who are you? Tell us so we can give an answer to those who sent us (hēmas | ἡμᾶς | acc pl 1st). What do you say about yourself?”
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (hēmin | ἡμῖν | dat pl 1st), and we gazed on his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
They said to each other, “Were not our (hēmōn | ἡμῶν | gen pl 1st) hearts burning within us (hēmin | ἡμῖν | dat pl 1st) as he spoke to us (hēmin | ἡμῖν | dat pl 1st) on the road, as he opened to us (hēmin | ἡμῖν | dat pl 1st) the Scriptures?”
but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us (hēmōn | ἡμῶν | gen pl 1st), for it is toward evening and the day is already far spent.” So he went in to stay with them.
But we (hēmeis | ἡμεῖς | nom pl 1st) had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, but it is now the third day since these things happened.
