Now I urge (parakalō | παρακαλῶ | pres act ind 1 sg) you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in fervent prayer to God on my behalf,
if you have the gift of encouragement (parakalōn | παρακαλῶν | pres act ptcp nom sg masc), then use it to encourage; if you are able to give, give generously; if your gift is leadership, lead with zeal; if it is showing mercy, then do it with cheerfulness.
I appeal (parakalō | παρακαλῶ | pres act ind 1 sg) you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God — this is a reasonable act of worship for you.
For this reason, therefore, I (parekalesa | παρεκάλεσα | aor act ind 1 sg) have (parekalesa | παρεκάλεσα | aor act ind 1 sg) asked to see you and speak with you, since it is because of the hope of Israel that I wear this chain.”
Therefore I urge (parakalō | παρακαλῶ | pres act ind 1 sg) you to take some food; for this is for your survival, for not a hair will perish from the head of any of you.”
As day was about to dawn, Paul urged (parekalei | παρεκάλει | imperf act ind 3 sg) them all to take some food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day that you have continued in suspense and been without food, having taken nothing.
