Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion (splanchnizomai | σπλαγχνίζομαι | pres pass ind 1 sg) on the crowd because they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint from exhaustion on the way.”

suffering harm as the reward for the harm they have done. They consider indulgence in the daytime a pleasure. They are spots (spiloi | σπίλοι | nom pl masc) and blemishes, reveling in their deceitful pleasures while they feast with you.
so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, not having spot (spilon | σπίλον | acc sg masc) or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she might be holy and without blemish.
These people are blemishes (spilades | σπιλάδες | nom pl fem) on your love-feasts, feasting with you without reverence, caring only for themselves. They are waterless clouds, swept along by winds; autumn trees without fruit and uprooted — completely dead;
Then the kings of the earth and the princes and the generals and the rich and the powerful and everyone — slave and free — hid themselves in the caves (spēlaia | σπήλαια | acc pl neut) and among the rocks of the mountains.
