So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing (sphragisantes | σφραγίσαντες | aor act ptcp nom pl masc) the stone and setting the guard

Since we were being pounded so (sphodrōs | σφοδρῶς | adverb) violently (sphodrōs | σφοδρῶς | adverb) by the storm, the next day they began to throw cargo overboard;

And enormous hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven and people blasphemed God for the plague of hail, because the plague was so (sphodra | σφόδρα | adverb) devastating.

And the word of God continued to spread, and the number of disciples increased greatly (sphodra | σφόδρα | adverb) in Jerusalem, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith.

But when he heard this, he became very sad, for he was extremely (sphodra | σφόδρα | adverb) wealthy.

And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away — for it was very (sphodra | σφόδρα | adverb) large.

When the centurion and those with him, who were keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what was happening, they were terrified, and said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

And they were greatly (sphodra | σφόδρα | adverb) distressed and began to say to him one after another, “Surely not I, Lord?”

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly (sphodra | σφόδρα | adverb) astounded and said, “Who then can be saved?”

So when his fellow servants saw what had happened, they became indignant and went and told their master all that had taken place.
