And I saw standing there, between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders, a Lamb that appeared to have been killed (esphagmenon | ἐσφαγμένον | perf pass ptcp acc sg neut), having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

We are not to be like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered (esphaxen | ἔσφαξεν | aor act ind 3 sg) his brother. And why did he murder (esphaxen | ἔσφαξεν | aor act ind 3 sg) him? Because his own deeds were evil and those of his brother were righteous.

But God turned away and gave them over to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: ‘Did you bring to me slain (sphagia | σφάγια | acc pl neut) beasts and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

You have lived on the earth in self-indulgence and luxury. You have fattened your hearts for a day of slaughter (sphagēs | σφαγῆς | gen sg fem).

As it is written, “For your sake we face death all day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” (sphagēs | σφαγῆς | gen sg fem)

Now the passage of scripture the man was reading was this: “As a sheep to the slaughter (sphagēn | σφαγήν | acc sg fem) he was led, and as a lamb dumb before its shearer, so he opens not his mouth.

and they were brought back to Shechem (Sychem | Συχέμ | acc sg fem) and laid in the tomb that Abraham had bought for a sum of silver from the sons of Hamor in Shechem (Sychem | Συχέμ | dat sg fem).

So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar (Sychar | Συχάρ | acc sg fem), near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.

And do (syschēmatizesthe | συσχηματίζεσθε | pres pass imperative 2 pl) not be conformed (syschēmatizesthe | συσχηματίζεσθε | pres pass imperative 2 pl) to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
