and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body (sōmati | σώματι | dat sg neut) and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the things of the world, how to please her husband.

For the wife does not have authority over her own body (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut), but the husband does. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut), but the wife does.

For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God with your body (sōmati | σώματι | dat sg neut).

Or do you not know that your body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God, and you are not your own?

Flee sexual immorality! Every other sin a person commits is outside the body (sōmatos | σώματος | gen sg neut), but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body (sōma | σῶμα | acc sg neut).

Or do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute is one body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) with her? For it says, “The two will become one flesh.”

Do you not know that your bodies (sōmata | σώματα | nom pl neut) are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!

“Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food” — and God will destroy both the one and the other. But the body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body (sōmati | σώματι | dat sg neut);

For though I am absent in body (sōmati | σώματι | dat sg neut), I am present in spirit; and I have already passed judgment on the one who did this, just as though I were present.

so we who are many are one body (sōma | σῶμα | nom sg neut) in Christ, and individually members who belong to one another,
