He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, for (ētounto | ᾐτοῦντο | imperf mid ind 3 pl) whom they asked (ētounto | ᾐτοῦντο | imperf mid ind 3 pl), but he handed over Jesus to their will.
But they were insistent, demanding (aitoumenoi | αἰτούμενοι | pres mid ptcp nom pl masc) with loud cries that he should be crucified, and their cries prevailed.
But the one who did not know, and did things worthy of blows, will be beaten with few blows. Everyone to whom much was given, much will be required from him, and to whom much was handed over, they (aitēsousin | αἰτήσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl) will (aitēsousin | αἰτήσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl) ask (aitēsousin | αἰτήσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl) more of him.
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask (aitousin | αἰτοῦσιν | pres act ptcp dat pl masc) him!”
For everyone who asks (aitōn | αἰτῶν | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) receives, and everyone who seeks finds, and for everyone who knocks it will be opened.
“So to you I say, ask (aiteite | αἰτεῖτε | pres act imperative 2 pl) and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened for you.
To all who ask (aitounti | αἰτοῦντι | pres act ptcp dat sg masc) of you, give, and from the one who takes away what belongs to you, do not demand it back.
