the commanding officer ordered Paul to be brought back into the barracks, saying that he should be examined with whips so that he might know the reason (aitian | αἰτίαν | acc sg fem) why they were shouting at him that way.
And Peter went down to the men and said, “Behold, I am the one you are looking for. What is the reason (aitia | αἰτία | nom sg fem) for which you have come?”
When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, saying, “Crucify him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him; for I find no basis for an accusation (aitian | αἰτίαν | acc sg fem) against him.”
Once more Pilate went out and said to them, “Look, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no basis for an accusation (aitian | αἰτίαν | acc sg fem) against him.”
Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” And having said this he went out again to the Jews and said to them, “I find no basis for an accusation (aitian | αἰτίαν | acc sg fem) against him.
Seeing that she had not escaped notice, the woman stepped forward, trembling, and fell down before him. She declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him and how she had been healed at once.
