Peter turned and saw following (akolouthounta | ἀκολουθοῦντα | pres act ptcp acc sg masc) them the disciple whom Jesus loved, the one who at the supper had leaned back against Jesus and said, “Master, who is it that will betray you?”
Now he said this to indicate by what kind of death Peter would glorify God. And after this he told him, “Follow (akolouthei | ἀκολούθει | pres act imperative 2 sg) me!”
Then Simon Peter, who had been behind (akolouthōn | ἀκολουθῶν | pres act ptcp nom sg masc) him, also arrived, and he went right into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there,
Simon Peter was following (ēkolouthei | ἠκολούθει | imperf act ind 3 sg) Jesus along with another disciple. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest,
Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going you cannot follow (akolouthēsai | ἀκολουθῆσαι | aor act inf ) me now, but you will follow (akolouthēseis | ἀκολουθήσεις | fut act ind 2 sg) later.”
If anyone would serve me, he (akoloutheitō | ἀκολουθείτω | pres act imperative 3 sg) must (akoloutheitō | ἀκολουθείτω | pres act imperative 3 sg) follow (akoloutheitō | ἀκολουθείτω | pres act imperative 3 sg) me; and where I am, my servant will be also. If anyone would serve me, the Father will honor him.
When the Jews, who were with Mary in the house consoling her saw that she had gotten up quickly and gone out, they followed (ēkolouthēsan | ἠκολούθησαν | aor act ind 3 pl) her, assuming that she was going to the tomb to weep there.
They (akolouthēsousin | ἀκολουθήσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl) will (akolouthēsousin | ἀκολουθήσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl) never follow (akolouthēsousin | ἀκολουθήσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl) a stranger, but will run away from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”
