My little children, I am writing these things to you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one.

Now this is the message that we have heard from him and are proclaiming to you: (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him.

that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd), so that you (hymeis | ὑμεῖς | nom pl 2nd) too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

this life was revealed, and we have seen it and are bearing witness and proclaiming to you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) the eternal life that existed with the Father and was revealed to us —

You (hymeis | ὑμεῖς | nom pl 2nd) therefore, dear friends, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard that you are not led astray by the error of these lawless people and fall from your stable position.

And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as also our dear brother Paul wrote to (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) you (hymin | ὑμῖν | dat pl 2nd) according to the wisdom given to him,

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what kind of people ought you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) to be in holy conduct and godliness,

The Lord is not late in fulfilling his promise, as some regard lateness, but is patient toward you (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd), not willing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

But do not let this one thing escape your (hymas | ὑμᾶς | acc pl 2nd) notice, dear friends, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years are as a single day.

to remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken through your (hymōn | ὑμῶν | gen pl 2nd) apostles.
