And when he had said these words, while they were watching, he was lifted up and a cloud took (hypelaben | ὑπέλαβεν | aor act ind 3 sg) him away (hypelaben | ὑπέλαβεν | aor act ind 3 sg) from their eyes.
Jesus continued (hypolabōn | ὑπολαβών | aor act ptcp nom sg masc), saying, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers. After stripping him of his clothes and beating him, they went off, leaving him half dead.
Simon answered, “I suppose (hypolambanō | ὑπολαμβάνω | pres act ind 1 sg) it would be the one for whom he cancelled the greater debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged correctly.”
Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! (hypokritai | ὑποκριταί | voc pl masc) Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger to lead it away and to water it?
Hypocrites! (hypokritai | ὑποκριταί | voc pl masc) You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you do not know how to interpret this present time?
How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself don’t see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite! (hypokrita | ὑποκριτά | voc sg masc) First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.
And he said to them, “Isaiah prophesied accurately about you hypocrites (hypokritōn | ὑποκριτῶν | gen pl masc), as it is written: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites (hypokritōn | ὑποκριτῶν | gen pl masc), where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
