For what praise is there if, when you do wrong and are beaten for it, you endure (hypomeneite | ὑπομενεῖτε | fut act ind 2 pl) it? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure (hypomeneite | ὑπομενεῖτε | fut act ind 2 pl) it, this is commendable in God’s sight.

For sure, we regard as blessed those who persevered (hypomeinantas | ὑπομείναντας | aor act ptcp acc pl masc). You have heard of the perseverance of Job and have seen the result of the Lord's activity, that the Lord is exceedingly compassionate and merciful.

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast (hypomenei | ὑπομένει | pres act ind 3 sg) when tested, because once he is shown to be genuine, he will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Endure (hypomenete | ὑπομένετε | pres act ind 2 pl) your trials (hypomenete | ὑπομένετε | pres act ind 2 pl) as divine discipline. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline?

Consider him (hypomemenēkota | ὑπομεμενηκότα | perf act ptcp acc sg masc) who (hypomemenēkota | ὑπομεμενηκότα | perf act ptcp acc sg masc) endured (hypomemenēkota | ὑπομεμενηκότα | perf act ptcp acc sg masc) from sinners such opposition against himself, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and lose heart.

fixing our gaze upon Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who rather than the joy set before him endured (hypemeinen | ὑπέμεινεν | aor act ind 3 sg) a cross, disregarding its shame, and has now taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
