By saying this you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered (phoneusantōn | φονευσάντων | aor act ptcp gen pl masc) the prophets.
“Which ones?” he inquired. And Jesus said, “‘Do (phoneuseis | φονεύσεις | fut act ind 2 sg) not murder (phoneuseis | φονεύσεις | fut act ind 2 sg), Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not give false testimony,
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You (phoneuseis | φονεύσεις | fut act ind 2 sg) shall (phoneuseis | φονεύσεις | fut act ind 2 sg) not murder,’ (phoneuseis | φονεύσεις | fut act ind 2 sg) and, ‘whoever murders (phoneusē | φονεύσῃ | aor act subj 3 sg) will be liable to judgment.’
Outside are the dogs, those who practice the occult, the sexually immoral, murderers (phoneis | φονεῖς | nom pl masc), idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, those who commit murder (phoneusin | φονεῦσιν | dat pl masc), the sexually immoral, those who practice the occult, idolaters, and all liars — their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. That is the second death.”
When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “Certainly this man is a murderer (phoneus | φονεύς | nom sg masc), and though he has escaped from the sea, justice has not allowed him to live.”
Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? They killed those who announced beforehand concerning the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers! (phoneis | φονεῖς | nom pl masc)
