And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe (phylēs | φυλῆς | gen sg fem), language, people, and nation.
Then one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe (phylēs | φυλῆς | gen sg fem) of Judah, the root of David, has won the victory so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the tribes (phylai | φυλαί | nom pl fem) of earth will wail on account of him. So shall it be! Amen.
For it is perfectly clear that our Lord is descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe (phylēn | φυλήν | acc sg fem) Moses said nothing about priests.
