So the scribes and the Pharisees were watching (paretērounto | παρετηροῦντο | imperf mid ind 3 pl) him carefully (paretērounto | παρετηροῦντο | imperf mid ind 3 pl) to (paretērounto | παρετηροῦντο | imperf mid ind 3 pl) see (paretērounto | παρετηροῦντο | imperf mid ind 3 pl) whether he healed on the Sabbath, so that they could find a reason to accuse him.

And they were watching (paretēroun | παρετήρουν | imperf act ind 3 pl) him carefully (paretēroun | παρετήρουν | imperf act ind 3 pl) to see if he would heal on the Sabbath, he would heal him so they could accuse him.

On the first day of the week, when we had gathered to break bread, Paul addressed them, and since he intended to leave the next day, he continued (pareteinen | παρέτεινεν | imperf act ind 3 sg) his message until midnight.

So because it was the Jewish day (paraskeuēn | παρασκευήν | acc sg fem) of Preparation and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Then, since it was the day (paraskeuē | παρασκευή | nom sg fem) of Preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs of the crucified men broken and their bodies taken down.

Now it was the day of Preparation (paraskeuē | παρασκευή | nom sg fem) for the Passover, about noon. Pilate said to the Jews, “Here is your king!”

It was the day of preparation (paraskeuēs | παρασκευῆς | gen sg fem) and the Sabbath was about to begin.

And when evening had already come, since it was the day (paraskeuē | παρασκευή | nom sg fem) of Preparation (that is, the day before the Sabbath),

On the following day, that is, after the day (paraskeuēn | παρασκευήν | acc sg fem) of Preparation, the ruling priests and the Pharisees went as a group to Pilate.

But I am sending these brothers so that what we say in praise of you may not be an empty boast in this instance, that you may be ready (pareskeuasmenoi | παρεσκευασμένοι | perf mid ptcp nom pl masc) just as I said you would be.
