For all the prophets (prophētai | προφῆται | nom pl masc) and the law prophesied until John;

What then did you go out to see? A prophet (prophētēn | προφήτην | acc sg masc)? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet (prophētou | προφήτου | gen sg masc).

Whoever welcomes a prophet (prophētēn | προφήτην | acc sg masc) because he is a prophet (prophētou | προφήτου | gen sg masc) will receive a prophet’s (prophētou | προφήτου | gen sg masc) reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.

In this way what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet (prophētou | προφήτου | gen sg masc) was fulfilled: “He took our illnesses and carried our diseases.”

“So whatever you would like others to do to you, do also to them, for this is the law and the prophets (prophētai | προφῆται | nom pl masc).

“Do not think that I came to abolish the law or the prophets (prophētas | προφήτας | acc pl masc). I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill.

Rejoice and be very glad because your reward is great in heaven; for that is how they persecuted the prophets (prophētas | προφήτας | acc pl masc) who were before you.
