Moses gave you circumcision — not that it is from Moses, but from the patriarchs — and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath (sabbatō | σαββάτῳ | dat sg neut).
This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because he not only used to break the Sabbath (sabbaton | σάββατον | acc sg neut), but he also was calling God his own Father, thus making himself equal with God.
So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath (sabbaton | σάββατον | nom sg neut), and it is not lawful for you to carry your mat.
But on the first day of the week (sabbatōn | σαββάτων | gen pl neut), at early dawn, the women came to the tomb, bringing the anointing spices they had prepared.
Then they returned and prepared anointing spices and perfumes. On (sabbaton | σάββατον | acc sg neut) the Sabbath (sabbaton | σάββατον | acc sg neut) they rested according to the commandment.
And to them, he said, “Which of you, when his son or his ox has fallen into a well, does not immediately pull it up, even though the be a Sabbath (sabbatou | σαββάτου | gen sg neut)?
