But thanks be to God who put the same eagerness (spoudēn | σπουδήν | acc sg fem) on your behalf in the heart of Titus,

I am not saying this as an order, but as a way of testing the genuineness of your love by comparison with the eagerness (spoudēs | σπουδῆς | gen sg fem) of others.

But as you excel in everything — in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all eagerness (spoudē | σπουδῇ | dat sg fem), and in the love we have aroused in you — make sure that you excel in this act of kindness.

So then, even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the offender, nor on account of the one offended, but that your earnestness (spoudēn | σπουδήν | acc sg fem) toward us might be revealed to you in the sight of God.
