for the heart of this people has become dull, and they hear with difficultly with their ears, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand (synōsin | συνῶσιν | aor act subj 3 pl) with their heart and turn, and I should heal them.’

“‘Go to this people, and say, “You will indeed hear but never understand (synēte | συνῆτε | aor act subj 2 pl), and you will indeed see but never perceive”;

He thought that his brothers would understand (synienai | συνιέναι | pres act inf ) that God, by his hand, was granting them deliverance; but they did (synēkan | συνῆκαν | aor act ind 3 pl) not understand (synēkan | συνῆκαν | aor act ind 3 pl).

Then he opened their minds so they could understand (synienai | συνιέναι | pres act inf ) the scriptures,

But the twelve understood (synēkan | συνῆκαν | aor act ind 3 pl) none of these things; in fact, what he said was kept hidden from them and they did not grasp what was being said.

He said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but to the rest I speak in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they (syniōsin | συνιῶσιν | pres act subj 3 pl) may (syniōsin | συνιῶσιν | pres act subj 3 pl) not understand (syniōsin | συνιῶσιν | pres act subj 3 pl).

But they did (synēkan | συνῆκαν | aor act ind 3 pl) not understand (synēkan | συνῆκαν | aor act ind 3 pl) the saying that he spoke to them.

And he said to them, “Do (syniete | συνίετε | pres act ind 2 pl) you (syniete | συνίετε | pres act ind 2 pl) not yet understand?” (syniete | συνίετε | pres act ind 2 pl)

Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive or understand (syniete | συνίετε | pres act ind 2 pl)? Do you have hardened hearts?

Calling the crowd to him again, he said to them, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand (synete | σύνετε | aor act imperative 2 pl).
