But we have renounced shameful hidden deeds. We do not practice cunning, nor do we tamper with the word of God, but by the open declaration of truth we commend (synistanontes | συνιστάνοντες | pres act ptcp nom pl masc) ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.

Are we beginning to (synistanein | συνιστάνειν | pres act inf ) recommend (synistanein | συνιστάνειν | pres act inf ) ourselves again? We do not need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you or from you, do we?

I commend (synistēmi | συνίστημι | pres act ind 1 sg) to you our sister Phoebe, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea,

But God demonstrates (synistēsin | συνίστησιν | pres act ind 3 sg) his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

But if our unrighteousness demonstrates (synistēsin | συνίστησιν | pres act ind 3 sg) the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unjust to inflict wrath on us? (I use a human argument!)

Peter and those who were with him were weighed down with sleep, but they kept awake and saw his glory and the two men who were standing (synestōtas | συνεστῶτας | perf act ptcp acc pl masc) with him.

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand (syniete | συνίετε | pres act imperative 2 pl) what the will of the Lord is.

For we would not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are recommending themselves. rather, as it is written, “Those who were not told of him will see, and those who have not heard of him will understand.” (synēsousin | συνήσουσιν | fut act ind 3 pl)

no one understands (syniōn | συνίων | pres act ptcp nom sg masc); no one seeks for God.
