But you, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), are not in darkness, for that day to take you by surprise like a thief;

Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), you have no need for anything to be written to you,

Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as others do who have no hope.

Indeed you do show love toward all the brothers (adelphous | ἀδελφούς | acc pl masc) throughout Macedonia, but we urge you, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), to do so more and more.

No one should sin against or take advantage of his brother (adelphon | ἀδελφόν | acc sg masc) in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, as indeed we told you beforehand with solemn warning.

Finally, then, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to live so as to please God (even as you are doing), that you do so more and more.

So in all our distress and affliction, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), we have been reassured about you by your faith.

and we sent Timothy, our brother (adelphon | ἀδελφόν | acc sg masc) and coworker for God in the gospel of Christ, to establish and encourage you in your faith,

As for us, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), when we were separated from you for a short time — in person but not in heart — we were all the more eager, with intense longing, to see you in person.

For you, brothers (adelphoi | ἀδελφοί | voc pl masc), became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus which are in Judea; because you too suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews,
